The Woman in Black, directed by James Watkins, focuses on a young lawyer, who in a desperate attempt to get to the bottom of the mysterious murder of a young boy, shifts base to the suburb where the incident took place. He lives his young son back home alone, putting the mission at hand above else. On arriving at the destination, he is shocked to see how all the residents live in a constant fear of an unexplained entity. They keep their children obsessively hidden behind closed doors, and the eerie silence on the streets is frightening. As he hears the screams of a drowning child, and discovers abandoned bodies of dead children strewn all over the place, he realizes that this is much more than an ordinary case.
